What is a good margin?

What a question! It depends on who you ask. For fabricators who follow cost accounting, a  5% to 10% margin is normal and 15%-30% is doing well for the countertop industry. Obviously, that can range significantly based on location, type of business (commercial vs retail), and many other factors. Those who follow throughput accounting would say that is not the right question, and you should be asking how to maximize throughput which should have a ratio greater than .2! What do you all think?
